(Exodus 10:28-29)
And Pharaoh said unto him, Get thee from me, take heed to thyself, see my face no more; for in that day thou seest my face thou shalt die. And Moses said, Thou hast spoken well, I will see thy face again no more.

You know I just realize something ironic when Ramses remembered that as much as he says Moses was getting him in the trouble he was there to get them out of trouble. If that’s the case then Moses really was there to get his former brother And all of Egypt out of trouble one last time but sadly Ramesy’s heart was hardened once again and this time Moses couldn’t get him out of the horrendous trouble that was about to come.

"You were always getting me into trouble!"
**long pause**
"...But then, you were always there to get me out of trouble again."

I love this moment. Rameses tried to convince himself to hate Moses, but he simply couldn't. He truly loved him, even more than his own father, and if it weren't for his father's brainwashing and pressure, he would've gladly freed the Hebrews the moment Moses returned to Egypt and asked for it. Such a great, tragic villain.

"Ramses, you bring this upon yourself."

Since Val Kilmer provides the voice of both Moses and the God of Abraham, this line subtly represents God speaking to Ramses personally (using Moses as a vessel), though His (their) pleas fall upon deaf ears.

"You were always getting me into trouble! But then...you were always there to...get me out of trouble again. Why can't things be the way they were before?"
That gave me chills.

*“Because no kingdom should be made on the backs of slaves.”*

This may probably be my favorite line in any movie, period. Slavery is such an evil horrific thing, but somehow what Moses says still feels extremely radical.

Moses already knew Ramses made the worst mistake of his life

Rameses: And there shall be a great cry of all of Egypt. Such as never has been or never will be again!

God: So be it...

I love the use of parallels in the hieroglyphics to define character and foreshadow future events. Ramses mimicking his father, and his son at the mouths of the crocodiles foreshadowing his death…

The acting is so perfect here and the characters and scripts are so well written. Ramses is a much more complex character here. He's not as one-sided as he was in most other Biblical movies about the topic.

2:44
Dude, the foreshadowing and representation is insane.

Ramses son: isn’t this the man who did all this?

Ramses up against the alligator: Yes, but one must wonder why?

Essentially Ramses is not realizing how blind he is to his own plight

I just realized something in the begin there was a statues of his father mother Ramses and Moses but in 0:15 Moses statue is destroyed because he is no longer apart of the Egyptian family.

The older I get the more I cannot help marvel at the sheer perfection this movie achieved in every aspect. This is what happens when you treat your project as a project no matter what the medium you’re using is.

"Something else is coming, something much worse than anything before". Moses knew the Angel of Death was the final plague.

3:21
Rameses: You Hebrews have been nothing but trouble. (faces Pharoah Seti in the painting) My father had the right idea about how to deal with your people.
Moses: Rameses!
Rameses: (points) And I think it's time I finished the job!
Moses: Rameses!!
Rameses: And there shall be a great cry in all of Egypt, such as never has been or ever will be again!
Moses: (looks at the painting in fear, as it shows Pharoah Seti ordering his soldiers to feed the Hebrew children to the crocodiles, looks at Rameses's son, and gasps softly in dread) Rameses, you bring this upon yourself.

Ramses, with his back turned, and too close to the wall, could not see what Moses saw. Where he stood in front of the mural, and with his words and intent, where he then ended up placing his own son.

Through heaven's eyes, Moses saw the fate of Ramses and his son etched in the very walls behind them.

This scene really got to me out of the whole movie, you can see at first they still cared about each other but Ramsey let his stubbornness and stupidity cloud better judgement

I love how Moses and Ramses talk to each other at 1:36 I love how Moses tries to focus on the past and regain which head he switched only for Ramses to assist with that and remind he put the crocodile on the falcon.

And I love how they both have short pauses trying recalling the past with faint details and it reminds you that Moses and Ramses are still brothers and not the protagonist vs the antagonist they care for each other but what Ramses is doing is wrong but he’s grown used to it and to him his brother has some sort of mental problem.

And I also love how you can understand why Ramses says what he says and you can tell by how his attitude changes when his son appears.

From the start of the scene he’s been nothing but calm but as soon as his son appears he goes from nostalgic at calm to alert and his guard pulls back up 2:16

But my favourite part is when he says “and there shall be a great cry in all of Egypt” 3:33 now he’s referring to the Hebrews and how he’ll slaughter them but you can also twist into the cry everyone has once the final league has passed: *the smiting of the first born.*

It almost seemed like Moses was getting through to his brother before his son came and ruined the moment! I know this is based on the Bible but darn kids!!!

Oh. . . Moses knew exactly what was going to happen when he saw the boy back up to the wall, celebrating the deaths of newborn Hebrew babies.
