Corvette C8 ZO6 vs. Corvette C8 Stingray | Sound Comparison at the Nurburgring

So I was luckily enough to record both of the Corvettes C8 at the Nurburgring (Corvette C8 Stingray back in July 2019 and the Corvette C8 ZR1 in August 2021). So I made a comparison video. Mainly because of the diverence of the sound when on load.

Love the base C8 for what it is, but that z06 is a truly special sound

Concerning the base C8 Corvette at the Nurburgring back in its 2019 testing.
A lap time of 7mins 29secs was given for its best lap time sporting a Z51 package. I have always had the feeling that GM/Chevrolet actually produced faster times.
Just that they had successfully achieved an under 7 mins 30 secs figure, something they felt they needed to do, to give it any sporting credibility and did not particularly want to post anything lower.

Sounds like a strange & surprising thing for them to do, but doing this would then give a 'larger disparency', a wider spread between the lap times of the base C8 and all the other C8 variant models that come after it.
To say the C8 Z06 is over 30 secs faster than a base C8 Corvette sounds a heck of a lot better than it being a lower figure.

From what we see the base C8 Corvette is a very capable vehicle all on its own.
Track orientated even without a Z51 package, I get the feeling there is more performance there than they are actually letting on. In the right hands that is, to get the very most out of this great vehicle.
Both the base C8 Corvette and the new C8 Z06 test mule sound great, the C8 Z06 of cause to me sounding like a F1 vehicle. The C8 Z06 is sure to sell well, as many as GM/Chevrolet ever want to make until the C9 Corvette comes out.

I think c8 Zo6 go easily under 7.10!
I hope it takes the 7 minute Mark, but i don't think it will beat the 992 911 GT3.

Imagine what the z06 will sound like with a full aftermarket exhaust system and no cats, it will definitely scream. Stock exhaust holds it back

You can hear the understeer on the stingray, as it screeches around every corner.The Z06 tires are dead silent, I have hope it has a lot less understeer.

The stingray sounds more like a traditional corvette and the z06 sounds more like a mclaren

The Stingray is a Crossplane V8. The Z06 is a Flatplane V8 which is common on European exotic cars like Ferrari. One growls and one screams.

I'm not going to pretend that I'm some race driver that can fully exploit the raw speed that the Z06 has, I'll just put all my lust into the Stingray bucket!

As an American it's hard to get on board with the flat plane crank sound as I love the throaty V8 sound. But, I also realize that for Corvette to battle with the tops of the world, it has to go this route to sound & perform like an exotic. It'll take getting used to but I'm officially on board. It'll be a world supercar instead of America's fastest car

The Z06 sits lower and has stickier tires. If you did the same to the stingray then i really wonder what the Nurburgring time would actually be?

I'm 99% positive you'll be able to buy an used 458 for what dealers are going to be gouging the Z06 for.

Wow what a huge difference. Zo6 is like v10/v12 and the c8 is the usual v8

Damn hood drivers!! I love my 3LT, GT3 seats and fully loaded HYC. Headed down to Parumph NV for my course over Halloween. I’m first on my list for my dealer for a ZO6. Just trying to decide if it’s worth the 30 k markup over sticker. My stingray was only $5k over. Thoughts?

that Z06 is something else, definitely gonna be around 6:56. But the base Stingray feels severely underpowered, would be way more badass w/ 550whp instead of 500crank
