My family and I are planning to convert our grandparents backyard into a full scale garden (we live in south Florida). I’m excited to learn from my mistakes and grow a variety of different plants. Of course I know there is a learning curve in cultivating your own food but your videos have given me the confidence to try!! I live in a desert environment, so I would remove the cardboard layer, if only because I wish to return some of the nutrients to the surrounding soil to that over time I can use that soil to plant more vegetation/flower for a permaculture environment. I also keep an entire are just with desert plants and maintain it for the local flora/fauna. We don't have much issues with weeds unless it rains, but outside of that not much is growing in the clay-rich desert soil I have. But I'm using everything else I learn, thanks man.
