Mach 1 is 761 mph,
A cropduster (More the modern ones) go 120 mph.
A normal airplane like a boeing 737 can go 560 mph.
Jet aircraft generally cruise at faster than 609 mph.
The fastest plane ever to this day was 7, 310 MPH (NASA X-43, which were intentionally destroyed).
Mach 3 is 2284 mph.

Yea, actually GTA 5 map is pretty small which I realized when I started to play this game. I know a bunch of games that have a way bigger map. But it feels bigger simply because it's not easy to reach high speeds in this game.

The SR71 still technically holds the record for a couple reasons. The X-15 was technically an experimental plane and never put into official use. Also, the X-15 couldn't take off on its own power. It had to be dropped from the belly of a B52. Also, the SR71's final record was set after it was decommissioned when one of the few were being transferred to its final resting place at a museum.

Fun fact:
In total there were made 32 SR-71 Blackbirds. At that time the plane was thought unbeatable, because the plane could go supersonic for hours while the other planes could go only for a minute or so. They had never been beaten, yet only 16 were left. The only reason why they went out of service was because of the fact that it burned it self midflight in those high speeds... leaving only 16 blackbirds as survivors. All the rest of them just burned to nothing mid air.
