I recently was given a 2000 Mercury Mountaineer which is basically the same vehicle. Thanks for the video.

So hard to do if you don't know how--thanks for showing how easy it is to do--and yes even a girl can do it with the help of this video

Thank you. this was a huge help. I was wondering how to get those things off. My only problem is that the top part was rusted out and broke off so if you got any advise on that, it would be a great help. 2000 Mercury Mountaineer.

@kaylee4sho As the years go by and they wear out the tension can become less. You might notice it more in the winter because of the cold air.

We currently do not have an auto repair video that shows you how to replace them on the glass. They should be fairly similar to the ones shown in this video. Usually there's a small metal band on the outside of the old strut that you can pry up with a flat head screwdriver. Then the new one should press right into place for you. Hope this helps you out. Have a great day. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

Thank you! This was exactly what I needed to fix the struts on my VW Rabbit. (And now I can brag that girls can do this too!)

I'm 6'4" and the tailgate is a bit too low for my height. I wonder what's the normal length extended? Or the normal tailgate height? Maybe I need to replace the struts with longer ones?

I just had to replace one of the upper support pins. It rusted and broke off. Do a search for ML3000 ball stud. I had to drill a hole where the old pin was. Then use an M8-1.25 tap to create the threads you'll need for the ML3000. I used anti-seize on the tap to help cut the threads. Then I used a lock washer and red threadlocker to try to make it a permanent repair. The old strut popped right on the replacement stud. It's working okay, but I think I'll replace the struts just in case.

🙋🏼‍♀️ My Name is Judy I have a 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan. The back hatch struts are bad, but also i need to replace the power assist motor arm support.
I noticed the gear inside is wobbly . Is there a way to tighten this back up I can’t see cause I’m not in there yet. I would really appreciate your help in showing me how to do it. Thank you❤
