I've said it before, but I'll say it again - I've been a teacher/instructor for nearly forty years (Languages/PADI scuba/Photography) and Malcolm is one of the finest I've encountered; no fluff, to the point, clear and concise.
I'm a decent snowboarder too (if a bit old...), but it was Malcolm's lessons I showed my daughters last year on their first snowboard trip, and they went from noobs to carving turns in four days.
They enjoyed themselves so much, we are off again in March, and this is just one of his vids we will concentrate on to improve their (and my!) technique.
Thanks Malcolm, you're a star!

For everyone practicing these wide turns, look up the slope on each turn. People don't expect you to ride across. A quick glance will save you from bad collisions.

„The Turn will begin when the Edge change is completed“ this is such a helpful advice!

Malcolm,

As a BASI 2 instructor, I just wanted to say thank you for your videos and for your vast amount of effort in putting together these videos. It doesn't go unnoticed and the technical ability in these videos is something I would absolutely aspire to in my own riding, as well as to help others learn it to this level.

I don't think people realise how much time you spend on filming, getting the correct angles and 'takes' to show exactly what you mean, the editing process, the audio overlays, structure, as well as finding the helping hand (recording you), waiting for perfect vis days, and the right snow conditions.

So genuinely, thank you and please, please, PLEASE keep up the awesome work. It is aspirational to me as a snowboarder, teacher and photographer.

I'm happy I discovered your videos from the start and got past the skidding phase in a week or 2. You got me S-carving a steep black 3 months after i first got on a board 😊

"it's the first thing you learn and the last thing you master" is so true! Thanks for this sage wisdom Malcom, from an old, experienced snowboarder!

Has anyone else been re-watching all of Malcom’s videos?! New videos got me stoked for my second season 😊

Another great reminder to slow it down and practice the technique. Carving deep S turns on groomers is so much more satisfying than skidding down the mountain. The entire experience changes when you learn to trust the edge. Thanks for what you're doing, Malcolm!

Another great video full of great advice.

As a guy who learned to ride in the early 90's and is completely self-taught (we didn't have youtube then) I've learned a lot of bad habits and these videos are great at helping me unlearn them. I really like that Malcom does a good job of keeping the videos concise and straight to the point without being rushed or skipping any key points.

Thank you, Malcolm for your detailed videos. I was finally able to learn toeside, connect my Ss regular and goofy, as well as develop the confidence to ride down black diamond moguls. Watching your videos everynight prior to snowboarding the next day helped me progress much faster than expected-- the exercises you recommend, the metaphors you use, like opening/closing the door for knee steering, and explanation on torsional twist is brilliant. Took me 4 seasons to finally get it down because I could only go for 4 days once a year. I spent 7 days in Lake Tahoe and enjoying snowboarding so much more. Thank you for your dedication to teaching!

Thank you so much for this video! I am a beginner snowboarder, riding at Mont Tremblant this week. I really lost my confidence yesterday, I just kept catching edges and falling onto my knees (which are so bruised now!). But I watched your video last night and again this morning to get some tips, after only 1 cry on the mountain this morning, I managed 2 successful runs, really focusing on my S turns and my posture. It was so crazy I couldn’t believe I had done it! I was so ready to give up snowboarding yesterday, but your videos really changed that for me, and I can’t wait to get back on the slopes again!

Heads up on Malcolms course - I bought and completed it. Money well spent. For the price of 1 (maybe 1.5) private lessons you are getting weeks (months?) worth of instruction, which is honestly better than the private instruction I have paid for. For me the best part of the course is the systematic approach it takes. The destination (good snowboarding) is mapped out each step of the way which is the best approach to learning and developing a new skill (lecturer speaking).

Watched different snowboard channels and educational videos but never have been able to translate them to my skills. Malcolm has great ability to explain things in such a way that you can understand and execute it by yourself. Going down blue runs used to be really taxing and exhausting exercise - mostly due to skidded turns, they take a lot of energy on steeper slopes, bumps and at higher speeds. Today I was blasting down blue runs with ease, almost no energy spent. S turns were shorter (the runs are quite narrow) but I felt like I stayed in complete control of my board at all times, it was super stable too! Thank you Malcolm for all the educational content!

I have started snowboarding 1y ago, at the age of 33. I cannot describe how helpful your videos are to beginners.
These are very complex fundamentals that you explain in a very simple and easy language/examples.

Thank you so much and please keep them coming !

Great Video bro! Most of us (probably all of us) starting w/ skidding turns and I remember as I transitioned to more edge turns how much less tired / sore my knees & legs where. So it sort of turns shredding from a work out to a sport 😁 For guys who didn't start shredding to later in life (55 y/o in my case) proper technique is even more important!

Thank you for making better snowboarders with your excellent tutorials. Not only are S-turns way more fun (g-force in the apex of the turn) but it’s way safer than bombing down the hill barely in control and unable to react in an emergency situation.

I always watch your videos before I head up to the mountain so that I can implement your tips! My day of riding ends up being so much more enjoyable. Thank you so much.

You are a great coach, I have 8 days of boarding and practising your drills using my ista 360 to review. I have been S turning the blues. Still work to do on the red and blacks but I appreciate your content and will continue to watch.
