Compilation of US Navy A-1 Skyraiders, A-4 Skyhawks and F-8 Crusaders attacking ground targets over North and South Vietnam in the 1960s. The launch of a relatively rare Bullpup guided missile is visible at 2:40 but the most notable "weapon" can be seen at 3:25 as CDR Clarence J. Stoddard in a VA-25 A-1H Skyraider releases a "toilet bomb" to commemorate 6 million pounds of ordnance dropped in October 1965

Holy crap! 3:29 is the toilet they dropped. I have seen photos and even a scale model of it on the deck of the carrier but I never seen it dropped before.

I’ll bet 99% of the ordnance expended in Vietnam hit absolutely nothing of value.

I am a gen Z Vietnamese. I grew up in Vietnam. Growing up, wars and bombs were merely stories to me. But now as I am watching this, my heart is wrenching. I respect everybody’s opinions on the war or the political side of it. But there’s only one question I wanna raise, How would you feel if that was your mother land being bombed, and you were watching it? Would you still be impressed and marvelled at the deadly aircrafts and missiles?

This is some awesome footage. I've seen alot of Vietnam airstrike footage. Mostly rear viewing. These are some crazy shots. Bravo, on locating, and posting. And as the last guy said. With all violence aside. I could almost watch this all day. It's surreal to watch. I think that's what grabs me.

We were just chucking bombs blindly into the woods. Didn't hit anything.

"For me, the most ironic token of that moment in history is the plaque signed by President Richard M. Nixon that Apollo 11 took to the Moon. It reads: 'We came in peace for all mankind.' As the United States was dropping 7.5 megatons of conventional explosives on small nations in Southeast Asia, we congratulated ourselves on our humanity: We would harm no one on a lifeless rock".

I really wish to know if they were at least bit sure there were enemies inside of these huts instead of bombing innocent civilians. Sometimes it just looks like blind bombing of everything.

2 straw huts, 27 trees and 4, 5 kilos of rice were destroyed.

The US dropped more bombs on Vietnam than it did during the entirety of WW2. When I watch these videos I usually cannot tell what they are trying to hit.

What exactly was the US bombing here? Vietnam had no industrial infrastructure just mindless bombing of the jungle. Great way to keep the war industry going but terrible for the overall economy.
