How about the port of Olisipo with its deep natural harbor on the estuary of the Tagus River which had been inhabited by local pre-Celtic tribes before becoming a vital Phoenician then Carthaginian then Roman port before eventually transforming to Lisboa/Lisbon the capital city of the Kingdom of Portugal and the Portuguese Empire? It's still very much a thriving port!
