It’s basically what turned World War Z from an amazing book about a global response to a zombie pandemic into a typical Hollywood blockbuster with superhuman zombies that overrun the globe in two scenes.

When I was a kid, I hated when they mixed the Lego pieces with the knock off in those giant Lego bins. The pieces never really fit together, and always made me mad when I couldn't find a piece that when with the others.

Trademarks CAN "expire" if the term becomes just used to refer to the product in general rather than any particular brand. Bandaid used to be a trademarked term, but judges saw that since everyone called any sticky bandage a bandaid, they nullified the trademark.

If, say, everyone called the Lego knock offs just Legos to such a degree lawyers could prove it in court, Lego could lose it's trade mark to it's own name.
