In this maths video lesson we will learn how to simplify ratios. We will write these example ratios in the simplest form.

Ratios are very closely linked to fractions and therefore share the same rules when simplifying.
First we will look for a relationship between the two ratios, can we see any common links between the numbers. Then we will establish how to make that link before doing whatever we did to one of the numbers in the ratio, to the other one too.

This is a classic year 6 maths topic and one that often comes up in the year 6 SATs exams

If I was simplifying 4:2 would the answer be 2:1?

so if the ratio was 7:10 would it still be 7:10 cause it’s already at its simplest form
