My shift cable replacement was estimated at around $450ish so definitely happy there's help like this out there. Thanks for the video!

Great video, Brian. I know you're all about O.E. parts, but offering a low-cost solution for a common problem is just good business! Keep up the great work.

Brian, can't thank you enough! Whenever something comes up on my 2008 King Ranch, I immediately come to this site for answers. And you always have the perfect "fix it right" video. In this case, the bushing on the shift arm disintegrated-and the cable separated from the shift-arm. Did as you suggested and "Dorman kit" to the rescue (didn't even know this kit existed). After watching this video, I figured why not check the bushing on the transmission link as well. So I did-and found the internal busing was completely missing! Turned out the only thing holding the cable was that flimsy locking tab. In about 3 minutes, used the remaining Dorman pieces to repair what could have become a serious "no shift" transmission issue. You're a lifesaver, Brian, just wanted you to know how important your work is... not only for saving us DIYers money, but also saving lives!

Thank you for doing this video. It helped me figure out why I couldn’t shift out of park! The bushing had broken, fallen out and the shift linkage was completely off the stud! Found the Dorman kit at O’Reilly and installed. You’re the bomb bro!

I hate to admit it, but I bought Dorman Ford fuel line retainer clips when I replaced the fuel pump in my car to resolve a P0171/P0174 lean code on my Ford Five Hundred. Say what you will about Dorman; sometime they're the the only choice if you don't want to donate to the Ford Dealership college fund.

Wow. Thanks man. I bought the Dorman kit yesterday. The old bushing was the 1 piece transparent bushing. I fought and could not get the new one on. Your saying the 2 piece orange bushing work. I’m going to try this when get home. Thanks. BTW, for anyone reading this…DO NOT perform this on un-level ground. I accidentally bumped the trans lever, taking the truck out of P and it began to roll backwards. Luckily I can still move fast and got out of the way. Going to use my 2 post lift when I get home
Thanks again man.

I stock a few of these on my service truck for U-Haul calls. The customers always think I performed a magic trick when I can get them rolling again so quickly.

As always great job Brian! 🥇🍻

My 2015 escape se just had that bushing fail yesterday. Someone posted the Ford part number of dg9z7k340a for a replacement bushing. I called the local dealer and of course they want to sell me a cable. I gave them that part number and they have one in stock for 1.53 so in going to try it later today. I lo e your videos man. Saves us a ton of cash.

While your on the trans linkage, I've ran into a couple trucks with a stiff shifter symptom and found the neutral safety switch had rust build up in it on the shift shaft causing it to bind hard. Sometimes your able to get it off and clean up the shaft and all good. Sometimes it's so tight you break the switch and have to replace it. I'm sure you've seen this before. Just my little tip while talking about shifters. Thanks for all you do!

Thank you! I am a subscriber & your channel has been a financial blessing to me and my owned since new 2007 F150 Lariat 4x4 short box. Will be tackling the driveline lash soon. Hoping it is simply the spline lube issue on my one piece drive shaft. Thanks again!
