Hey thank you so much for making this spoiler free. I haven't been able to watch so many videos recently as I haven't had time to read it yet thanks to deadlines. Glad you loved this! (And great haircut!)❤️

Wonderful review and I appreciate your compassionate characterization of Kaladin. As someone who suffers from depression and ptsd, I really appreciated Sanderson’s treatment of our hero. It is an amazing book!

Excellent review, Petrik! I’m glad to hear you have a mostly positive impression of Rhythm of War, and I especially admire the wisdom you express on the subject of depression. Beautifully said! I’ve got to start this book soon!

I know this a year old video, but I really enjoyed your review. I devoured this book in 5 days when it first came out, and while I can acknowledge the pacing issues, I still love this book to death. I agree with you that I think Words of Radiance is my favorite SA book, but man did this book get me excited for book 5! Can’t wait to start my SA reread soon

What a juggernaut of a read Rhythm of the War was, and what a review Petrik! True, it wasn't a perfect book and yes part 3 went at a crem's pace for me but all the other parts I just lashed through!

Edit: and yes, more love for antagonists like raboniel!

Great video! Once I finish Mistborn I plan to move forward with this series.

Spoilers:

While I had issues with the pacing, what Brandon has done with Fabrials is actually insane.
He basically created his own version of quantum mechanics. The level of detail in this magic system is crazy.

Same! Venli's chapters are quite sluggish.

Thanks for a great spoiler free review. I must admit I struggled SO much for the first two thirds of Oathbringer that despite loving the end of it, I was unsure if I would continue with the series. I was quite apprehensive about Rhythm of War as a result, but having seen your review it has made up my mind to continue with it. 😊
And the art work looks stunning!!! Such a shame most of it won't be included in the UK edition.
Keep up the great work with book reviews for books you love.

Great Review buddy. I agree this book was a great time. I had a lot of fun with it. I tried to read it slowly but still ended up reading it in 5 days.

Whoa, A LOT of people disliked Part 3 of ROW. I didn’t have a problem with it probably because I was interested in Venli’s character development(plus, since they are the original inhabitants of Roshar, they can be used as the PERFECT info dump of the history/lore of the world). The story of the Listeners is incredibly tragic(and it only took me how much I cried in Eshonai’s last flashback to realize how much I had actually come to care about them). Overall, I feel like this is a book whose reception will change upon rereads. Plus, I honestly didn’t feel like the flashback chapters were that long, I think they were the shortest in the series thus far. The fact that people disliked the shortest flashbacks really shows how much they really don’t care about Venli and Eshonai as characters. But I think this will probably change during rereads.
Don’t worry, I also disliked Shallan in OB. Her chapters were the main reason why I disliked Part 3 of OB the most in the whole reason. It was so frustrating and so jarring to come from a nice Dalinar flashback only to see “Veil was”. I was just like, “Shallan, girl, I loved you in TWOK, loved you in WOR, now man, what are you doing with your life”. Then there was also the “love triangle” which was another no for me. And the way it was resolved in OB....thank God, it didn’t come up again in ROW.

I’ve watched a lot of Rhythm of war reviews. This is the best one.

Rhythm of War is not my favorite book ever, but thats about the meanest thing I can say about it.

My ranking of SA would be WoR>RoW=WoK>OB

When you said 'it didn't meet my expectations' I was like aw sadface! But then you continued with 'it surpassed them' and I was happy again lol. Yours was one of the ROW opinions I was the most nervous to hear tbh. I'm so relieved you loved it. I think WOR is still my no.1 favorite Stormlight book but only because of the flashbacks? I mean I did enjoy Venli and Eshonai's back stories, but Shallan's was just way more gripping and shocking. ROW is now a very very close second though! It was definitely a more emotional read than WOR. Plus, I genuinely felt lots of fear and anxiety while reading the Urithiru bits. ROW also made Kaladin my most favorite character in all fiction like officially haha. I just love him so much. The way mental health was handled in this book was done so beautifully as well. I'm so grateful to Sanderson for making the effort to portray it the way he did.
