I was really anticipating your review and I'm so glad to see it's a positive one! I avoided the preview chapters so right now I'm in the exciting introduction and I really wasn't expecting that pace! A return to Kaladin and a greater focus on mental health has me so thrilled :)

Dawnshard was a 5/5 read for me. The first three Stormlight books were my first Sanderson, then I read Warbreaker in October. Let me tell you, I screamed my fucking head off when I read all those Warbreaker connections and it was so much fun. I need Nightblood...NOW! Currently reading Rhythm Of War, I hadn't read the preview chapters and damn, those chapters are INCREDIBLY fast paced and I'm loving them.
Shorter interludes? please. My goodness, some of the interludes in Oathbringer were taxing. I don't care who Puuli is or why ardents are reading romance novels.
I'm living for those pairings, Kaladin and Navani, Adolin and Shallan, Dalinar and Jasnah...yessss. Can't wait to get to them.
Whoa, everything you're saying makes it seem like the everything I'd like and your review is such a breath of fresh air. I'm glad to see completely different views on the book. But unanimously, the emphasis on mental health is praised. And I love hearing that. I really like moments when main characters sit down and just reflect on their lives.
Overall, I feel like this might be my fave instalment.

I really felt some reviews missed the point (not to point fingers or anything:P) and this review really hits the spot perfectly for me.
The stakes are real, the Mental illness was so touching and I connected with so much of the pain - but also the struggle to do and be better, as well as the payoff when you succeed.

I couldn't put the book down and read it in about 16hrs straight 😅. I haven't read a book that gripped me so much since the last stretch of the Wheel of Time books. Had to eat? Read while making, eating, and cleaning up food. Had to get a drink? Reading. Bawling my eyes out reading about mental health stuff? Reading with difficulty 😭.
