These guys sold a Super Mario World with a dead save battery to some poor dude and they made a video where they “heroically” sent him another one while requiring he send the original back, and then they had the audacity to tell me that save batteries are thoroughly checked and that it “probably died on the way to the customer”. You are not gonna tell me a 23 year old save battery died in the few days it took to go from your facility to the customer.

Edit: This is the most replies I've ever gotten on a YouTube comment. Also, there's a blog post on the DK Oldies site about how they could tell that the game boys were fake.

Hi friends, I used to work for them. I'm actually in a few of their tiktoks. What little I did in the repairs department allowed me to really see what was going on. From employees hiding the "good" consoles under desks until their time was up so they could just kinda slip out with them to co-workers telling me to allow a wii through with LITERAL MAPLE SYRUP in the disk drive. Rest assured, when I was working back there I made sure every console I said was "ok" was truly "ok" I fixed the ones I could and made sure the ones that couldn't never saw the light of day. I quit when my co-worker became my boss and he immediately moved me away from the other workers because I was "on his shit list" for doing his job better than him.

I actually bought a lot for parts from them back then a couple of years ago on their ebay store. When they were not that popular. The prices were really affordable and fair. Times have changed.

I bought an immaculate second hand "Ice Blue" pocket about 20 years ago. I had no idea that the colour was a limited edition. It was rattling about in my jacket pocket with a couple of cartridges and a small plastic containing 4x spare AAA's for about 5 or 6 years. You think yours is hideously scarred, you should see mine ! Not only has the paint wore off all the corners and edges, but a fair amount of the plastic has worn down too !

The reason I stumbled across this video was because a few days back I unearthed this tatty GB pocket in a box of my old stuff, and (after testing that everything still worked) I decided to show it a little love. I've got parts coming to backlight and "Bivert" it, upgrade the speaker, add one of Giltesa's USB C Li-po charging kits + a 1100mah li-po, and a translucent blue shell to rehome it all in (plus some replacement coin cells for my cartridges, because all of old one I tried in my GB pocket have lost my saved games). If all goes to plan it should be better than new.

DKoldies say they still "refurbish" the cosmetically flawed items. At least the website still says it's refurbished when I clicked on cosmetically flawed. It's also illegal in the United States for DKoldies to call that sticker a void warranty sticker. They call it something else now. Can't remember what it is. I think it's honestly called a quality control sticker now 😂

Man, glad to see you finally own one of the Ice Blue pockets! That's the gameboy I had as a kid.

Ok, story time: I have a brittle bone condition, and as a kid I had an original DMG gameboy. Which was wonderful for me to play in the hospital. The problem was, my hands were so tiny, and when I had an IV in with all the IV tape, I couldn't hold the gameboy properly. So when the pocket came out, my mom gifted it to me, and it was my best friend while laid up after an operation while in a body cast! (Or any cast for that matter).

That ice blue gameboy was so gorgeous! I still regret getting rid of it in my teens... I now no longer get rid of my systems, especially if it's a special edition! I hope to get another ice blue some day.

I bought an original DMG Gameboy for $3 from a thrift store and spent $50 refurbishing with new buttons and screen cover. Parts are cheap, but eBay shipping is pricey, I thought I over spend, but DK Oldies makes me feel better 😂

I'd guess the DMG is more expensive because it's the "original", and therefore better. Sites like DKOldies are targeting people who just want that nostalgia hit from their childhood, so they can charge through the nose for nostalgia.

Bought a 465 dollar game from them (I was really desperate to get it) and there was so many scratches on it!!! Man, I’m saddened to see they actually pull everyone’s leg. :/
