2x4 Versus 2x6 Construction

It would seem that everyone focuses on insulation. But 2x6 walls provide at least two other advantages: 1) room for wiring both CAT5 and RG59 or both like my house, 2) noise control which is so often overlooked. Before I bought my current house, I walked into many upscale houses that were empty but 2x4 framed. And I walked out. Too noisy, sounded cheap. Now this house is 2x4 framed but I bought it because it is our two story retirement home in a multi-generational, multi-economic neighborhood. When I re-roof in five years I will also reside with 5/8" Dow Board under Alside Charter Oak vinyl siding. Dis this once before and visitors noticed immediately. The house, a Mcmansion, was almost soundproof to the outside.

2x4 is related to dimensions of wood - 2 inches by 4 inches or...? I'm from Europe so we don't see this type of house very often, here it's all block and brick
