What Does A Weld Test Look Like?

I'm familiar with this. The test is a destructive test. We used to conduct nondestructive testing using X-ray inspection, which examined the entire weld. Defects looked for were porosity, slag inclusion, lack of penetration and lack of fusion between base material and weld and / or other weld beads.

Welding was the trade I originally wanted to be in. I found myself in a plumbers/pipe fitters union and years later I’m an HVAC&Refrigeration tech lol. Far from welding but I do braze a lot.

I just passed my first try did it in three hours, chipping hammer and wire brush only. I’m not sure where you got your test done but our school under D 1.1 one test piece from the top and one from the bottom not just the bottom.

That is a bend test .. its also bend in root, side bend and face bend
