In this lecture, I'd like to introduce American pragmatism through this short but helpful essay by Charles S. Pierce. One of the central trends in pragmatism is the rejection of Cartesian thinking as the guide for contemporary philosophy, instead shifting towards a practical basis for forming beliefs based on an intimate investigation of the world of one's daily life, shifting your beliefs and doubts in proportion to their pragmatic effects. Hey there, just wanted to tell you: i am doing my masters in philosophy in the Netherlands now, and I'm diving into CS Peirce for a course on semiotics. Peirce is popping up in my feed a lot now, and for a change I'm so happy with the internet, now it gave me your video. This is honestly a great and insightful video, you have real talent. Keep it up.

Interesting video, always love CSP getting attention. Also, I do think it’s pronounced like “purse.” At least according to my professor of American philosophy lol

Great analysis, as usual (:

I've been reading some Bergson recently and I have been similarly struck by how he arrives at certain insights that are usually associated with Heidegger or Husserl. Not sure if he's a thinker you're fond of/have any interest in, but I for one would be very interested in hearing your thoughts on some of his ideas, if you ever get to that.
