I've been trying for weeks to no avail, but the holding the guitar straight in front and then trying to do the barre chord really helped. Still buzzy but miles ahead of where I was. Going to practice that over and over now that I've made some effort.

I would say rotating the finger away is a bad habit for those that want to progress to more advanced guitar, beyond just strumming. I play Flamenco guitar so most barre work is arpeggios/tremellos with a lot of pinky finger stretches and ascending/descending slurs. Fir this sort of playing your hand/fingers are going to be parallel for maximum range of movements. This is unforgiving as every tiny buzz from even the slightest bad positioning on the barre finger is heard. It took me ages to figure out the most effective barre position to allow for all this. Your point about the creases in your joints is correct, so you simply move your index finger up so the creases fall between the strings. This means you can keep the finger parallel. As I say, bashing away on a GDC won't matter as much, but once you start playing arpeggio barres with difficult positioning and lots of

Thank you so much! I just have a problem in playing the f chord. Im able to stretch my fingers but the thinnest strings don't ring out. Can somebody please help me out here?

I had a Greg Bennett before and was able to play an F and other barre chords without any issues - however I had to sell it and bought a relatively cheap guitar online from the shopping app (no music stores anywhere near me). I can't seem to play the F, even cut my index finger on the side trying to do it. Is my finger position wrong or do you think it may need to have the string action corrected by a professional?

God has a cruel sense of humo(u)r, giving me fingers that are never completely straight no matter how I roll them. My only solution is to grow finger muscle and toughen up.

And buy softer strings, of course.
