As much as I love Nole, I just can't help myself but appreciate how amazing that was from Federer, Zverev getting all his first serves in, being down 40:0 3 match points in a row, makes all the returns even though Zverev was serving around 230km/h and then those stunning volleys and half volleys, I tip my hat off Mr Federer, that was fucking sensational

Some of Federer's best comebacks have come in matches where he has ended up losing and as a Fed fan it is frustrating af because it's harder to enjoy the great points because of the outcome.

Wimbledon 08, he comes back from 2 nil down, plays some of the most clutch tennis in the tie breaker in the 4th set to claw it back, but then eventually loses.

In Wimbledon this year, he was the better player for most of the match, playing his best tennis in 2 years, coming back from 2 sets to 1 and a break down to Djok to get it back and have 2 match points. But again eventually, he loses.

And today, he was struggling to find his best form, but from 6-5, 40-0 break down, he pulls out God mode and wins the breaker. From there you think he has all the momentum and he'll win the 3rd set easy. But no, again he eventually loses.

I think that's the best 5 consecutive points I've ever seen in the history of tennis. I struggle to find a better sequence of 5 consecutive points from any player ever. some of the smoothest transitions to net I've ever seen. I didn't appreciate him properly while we still had him. now that my eyes are no longer used to it, looking back is like witnessing magic.

I LOVE that 1, 2, 3 combination federer does so well when he drills a shot deep to force a loopy reply that is so textbook in today's game, and the steps up to take that loopy reply on the rise and then transitions to net for the finish.
