I broke my ankle and leg at the same time. Ended up walking on it for 3 days and didn't go to the ER until my ankle swelled like a basketball and was purple, black, and yellow-green. Opted for no cast. Just an ace bandage. I was 35 when this happened, it was my first bone break ever, so I just thought it was dislocated 😅😅😅

My legs at the ankles are thick like a Clydesdale horse. I hated them for the longest time. Then I found out that thick ankles = sturdy ankles. Now I love them.

when i was 14 i fractured my left ankle and leg, ever since my ankle has been still giving me trouble but, i got it checked out and the ortho is saying there is nothing wrong with it… but just today (i’m 16 now) i was being stupid and jumped and rolled my right ankle and fell and i didn’t hear any kind of snapping or popping noises and it hurts really bad, and it hurts to put weight on it (like my normal amount of weight) i can only maybe put a little bit of weight on it if i’m lucky… idk what to now.. and i feel like it’s sprained but i’m not to sure..

I am literally sitting in my recliner with my ankle in a cast watching this, lol. All I did was blackout in place and try to fall to my knees forward, , but all my weight came down on my ankle somehow and snapped it in two places and dislocated a bunch of bones. Now I have plates and pins in it and about 6-8 weeks of recovery. It's really cool to see the animations of this and what they did to my ankle. So yes, a ground level fall can snap your ankle like a twig and it's extremely painful.

In January of 2000, I just stepped off of my back porch and snapped my leg, just above my ankle.
I was in a cast from January 15th to May 4th. It took forever for my leg to heal. I also pulled the ligaments, tendons and muscles in my foot. One of the ligaments didn't reattach and it sticks out still today.

The ankle mortise is intact.
No other fracture or dislocation detected.
There is soft tissue swelling overlying the lateral malleolus and lateral aspect of the foot.

In early March 2012 that I was in a bad car accident that broke my left ankle. I had surgery on that ankle. I wore 3 different casts. Even have a plate and a few screws. I was 41 years old at that time.

I fractured my ankle in 2009 by stepping down from a ledge that was only about six inches off the ground. I didn't need surgery or anything. Just a boot and crutches, luckily. It happened about a month into my freshman year of high school.

I am 45 year old german doing 5000 km of cycling a year. This September the first fracture in my life happened to me. I fell into a sewer on a footpath, 12000 km from home in Bali Indonesia. A trimalleolar ankle fracture had to be fixed in surgery. Got 14 screws and a plate. 3 month later i can do longer cycling tours again.😅
