Finally got around to filming this video. I've officially put 6000 miles on my 2019 VW GTI, and in this vid I go over whether I still love this car.

I just bought a new 2019 GTI SE and it is a nimble and quick little car, It rides well and has no ride flaws nor any other problems. It is a small car and a bit odd styled but smartly engineered and with great fit and finish. It runs and sounds just fine. Engine feels bigger than it is. Acceleration is strong and handling is great. You can't expect the firm suspension to feel like a Cadillac or the exhaust to sound like a Corvette. The car is comfortable and just fine.

I got a 2018 SE with optioned plaid seats. I enjoy the sun roof. This car is a backroad monster. I had a 2017 Mustang GT and the GTI feels like a go kart. Also check to see if they removed the shipping pucks. The ride isnt that harsh.

The APR Stage 1 tune will turn off the auto start/stop feature.... also its a night and day difference in power.

I know I’m a bit late to the party but I just want to point out that “drone” you spoke of. I don’t necessarily think that is drone you are hearing. The car is equipped with a “soundaktor” which is a fancy word for motor speaker. Literally a speaker mounted on the firewall to give the car more sound. With the right equipment you can turn it off. It will make the sound much more enjoyable.

I've never heard anything bad about the GTI steering wheel. Ever. The leather is great. MK6 had the best design. It's one of the reasons I own one. And, l love it. Manual, Tartan pattern, Laguna rims. Great car.

I was thinking about this when he was complaining about city driving. Maybe being from an older generation might explain why I can't get my head around how a "driving enthusiast" is driving an automatic--regardless of what newfangled transmission it is. It just doesn't compute. If you like to drive, and especially if you want full control, driving a manual is the only way. True, it's not a "joy" in traffic, but it's still better than a boring automatic that decides how it wants to drive your car.

Just a quick note about keeping the wheels clean. I personally use chemical guys diablo wheel gel on my Rabbit and I find that it’s the best for getting the heavy brake dust off. They are still a pain in the ass to keep clean but if anyone is looking for a quality wheel cleaner, definitely consider chemical guys !

I have one as well. Weather you go Stage 1 or Stage 2 it’s a perfect daily driver even for a small family!

How is your 1-2 shift under normal driving? My 7 speed dsg slips 2nd all the way until it shifts to 3rd under normal driving? In manual mode it shifts firmer after 4K RPM. I have a 2019 SE with 5k miles. It almost feels like a cvt. Even in sport mode it slips 2nd. My 2015 dsg dq250 shifted better than the 381.

I know i may be alone in this, but my ocd preference for symmetrry means i would rather drill two holes in my bumper cover to mount the license plate in the center. Having said that, when buying a car ordered from the factory..i also understand not wanting the lightly trained monkeys in dealership PDI drilling those holes and possibly being a bit off center. I get the possible (but not guaranteed by any means) added resale value of using the tow-hook mount..but that added value would depend on a buyer in one of the 19 single plate states being the person who actually buys your car..and wants it for that reason. (Some one platers love putting their personal witty message, school logo, military branch etc out front)

It’s a bummer to hear about the rough ride. I’m trying to get away from that in my current car and other car reviewers said the GTI had such a good quiet ride. I wonder if the regular Golf is dramatically better?

What kind of fuel do you put in your GTI Rabbit? The inside of my gas cap says to pump with 87 AKI Regular gas ONLY or 91 RON, but the instruction manual in the car says premium is needed to achieve full performance. I'm confused. I've been pumping 91 Premium fuel ever since I got the car. I'm worried I've been putting in the wrong fuel cuz from what I understand 91 RON is the European equivalent of 87. I live in canada.

If you out 17s on the car with a softer tire, maybe Michelin or Bridgestone, I bet it would soften your ride nicely.
