I hope this video has encouraged you to think a little more carefully about the crops you decide to grow with your kids.  Whatever you choose, remember that the planting of each crop marks the start of a new relationship. If you want things to work out with a happy ending, it sure is easier if you are compatible right from the start.

Your daughter is adorable. I cannot wait to raise my own children and watch them grow up.

Mixing gardening and outdoor children activities is such a great way to spend quality time with kids! Also teaches them where our food comes from in a tangible way. Not to mention gets them excited to eat veggies! Great video, thanks :)

My kids love potatoes! Eating them but also the harvesting, it’s like digging for treasure. My kids enjoy all of your suggestions as well. Have a good gardening season.

Good video! There needs to be more videos about growing with kids. I find sone crops are easier for kids to sow, sone to harvest, others to weed. For instance: sowing peas or beans can help kids learn measuring. I know from the tip of my thumb to the tip of my pinkie is an 8 inch span. From the first knuckle to the top of my index finger is an inch. Kids hands are smaller, but it increases the awareness of distances for planting. I have found making a marker ( or having kids make a marker) that say’s (example) “Jean’s carrots” gives them a feeling of ownership. They love sharing THEIR harvest with the family. Choosing what they are going to grow is important, too.
