Designer Ivan Poupyrev wants to integrate technology into everyday objects to make them more useful and fun -- like a jacket you can use to answer phone calls or a houseplant you can play like a keyboard. In a talk and tech demo, he lays out his vision for a physical world that's more deeply connected to the internet and shows how, with a little collaboration, we can get there. Unveiled in this talk: Poupyrev announces that his newest device, Jacquard, is now publicly available for all designers to use.

This video, although very interesting, should have been titled "Everything around you can become an interface"

He is very deep as to "how?", but he hasn't asked "why?" which is possibly the more important question.

How do the fabrics react to water though?

Changing the slides by swiping the dust of your jacket is pretty cool.

Finally a Ted talk that isn't about diversity or racism. Great ideas

If I want to make a phone call, I’ll just push call on my phone. MUCH EASIER

Otherwise, we must spend time integrating our tech into garments just to achieve the same thing our phones can already do.

collaborate with someone in the augmented reality business to make your sensors even more interactive

So I can buy cheaper clothes, if I sign a licence agreement for my product and give away my personal information?

What would happen if we reset technology to the line of the first light bulb and telegraph. And take a different approach. And develop it defiantly.

I can already imagine Auto Fitting clothes.

Только русский мог одеть триканы с лакированными туфлями и говорить, что он восхитительно выглядит. Мля, он еще и дизайнер

SMH. People like me, that don't really need a smartphone but just a phone, we already have limited choices. Technology is being forced upon us and this is just the next step and will affect our health. It's like we cannot escape it and I find it terrifying. We don't need these things. We need love, non-GMO farms, clean water and peace. Great talk and thanks for sharing it.

Huh, interactive sculptures would be interesting, I'm not a fan of art being behind a rope, how bout a sculpture, like a figure, you can interact with, or paintings, maybe a portrait that reacts to your emotions, those plants reactions were interesting, what's this technology called?

His presentation was unspectacular but I think his idea is revolutionary

I could have sworn he was going to talk about making atoms into transistors or something of that nature, but this is something entirely different lMAO

My garage is full of broken computers from the past decades. I'd like to turn them into computers again. Thank you.
