In this head-to-head video comparison, we run the same part, with the same tools, the same spindle taper, and the same speeds and feeds on three different machines. Find out which machine finishes the part fastest!

A video is worth 10, 000 words. Well done...

Good comparison straight up!  At 28 seconds per pc  ( over VF2 ) and say doing a 2000pcs, that's like two days saving right there. That's getting done on a Friday afternoon and going home happy. Or getting done the following week on Tuesday or Wednesday.  Imagine just doing that 10x a year or more. That's crazy savings if you can do it.  I don't have a DT1 or DM2, we have two VF2ss and love them.

nice side-by-side. However I'd put forth that the speed advantage is probably not in question, but rather the spindle power. On this workpiece it's likely not an issue, but the larger DM spindle taper delivers more rigidity to the cut although the spindle is still noticeably less powerful compared to a VF. If you want speed then either DT or DM is a good choice, but there's more to consider than raw speed alone.
FWIW i'm a happy owner of a VF2 with gearbox, VF2SS, and DT1. Each has their place.

Great video! We have VF-2SS and DT-1 (BT30 taper) in our shop and love them! Hoping to someday get Haas DM's here as well. Great product!

I kind of agree with Andrew. Haas obviously showed the speed of the DM-2 and it might be my next purchase given the size of some our work and other machines we have to handle the heavy load. Now help me do a true comparison before my next purchase and show me what it can't do and why I might need a VF.

it's possible to bump the VF-2 up to cut production time down

Curious if the VF2's were pre-staging tools. Seemed rather slow for the tool changes. For those using this micro-metric to choose a machine - please consider the myriad of other performance metrics that will influence the ROI of the machine. The acceleration of the DM is amazing, but it will struggle in other areas that can make it slower. For my small parts that are done one at a time on a single vise, it would be great. The VF machines can be packed with dual station vises or big fixtures to cut on MANY parts at once. That eliminates a TON of tool changing. The comparison of machines is a complex endeavor.

That VF2 has standard carusel tool changer or side mounted fast tool changer? Because difference in cycle time is really not so big.If so, than VF2 is fast enough for me

for me is very much important :

- Accuracy
- and Surface Finishing Capabilities

more than velocity or speed

I apologize I didn't catch the beginning of the video concerning speeds and feeds

Is there anyway I could get a copy of this program to run on my machine to see how much faster the DM is?

I will buy next month VF2 or VF2SS what are diferences? Im thinking about VF2SS 12000rpm, faster rapids, but what are the positive sides of VF2? Are they more reliable? Somebody told me about diferences in ball scew diameter?? Maybe VF2 will be enough for me?

Nice side by side comparison. Its so night and day, it almost seems that the VF and the VFSS wern't using tool staging.
