How To Open MP4 in Windows Movie Maker - Windows 10

The best solution is often the simplest.
I haven't tried that DaVinci program yet, and I do so little video editing that I probably never will.

Just remember that the best way to learn is to ask questions. Sometimes asking a search engine is enough. Personally, I despise Google and prefer Bing (more reliable results, as I've noticed), but use whatever works best for you. I know it's a pain to troubleshoot, especially if you're like me where your entire tech expertise comes from learning about problems as they arise, rather than a formal education in computer systems. Just stay calm, and remember, nothing tech related will just take a minute (as anyone trying to setup a wireless printer knows).

A little trivia: My desktop BG is from the beginning of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. :)

Really glad you found and published this as I have just hit the mp4/Windows 10 problem and your solution definitely works. I noticed however that at 2 min 31 seconds the first time you go to the Properties screen there is no need to look up or go to the File Location/ File/ Properties/Compatibility Tab. As that Tab is on that first pop up (Top right and second row) so can be used to access and to carry out the further adjustments needed as detailed in the rest of your video thus saving a few (milli)seconds!

Awesome - I don't know why people gave this a negative ?!?!? - after I changed it (windows 7) like instructed I clicked on my WMLP file I wanted to edit. It 1st showed with yellow errors. So I reloaded again AND BOOM !!! it worked just fine !!!!. I think it took the system to catch up --- THANK YOU so much so much better than converting and this and that BS marketing... U R AWESOME !!! sound like 54 people out there took up the ha-ha

mm, tnx. .. also, Windows Movie Maker requires certain video format to work... use ZillaTube to produce the video and sound formats which are editable by Movie Maker. It works very well. Just google "zillatube" to find it.
