The seven-episode second season of WINNING TIME: THE RISE OF THE LAKERS DYNASTY debuts SUNDAY, AUGUST 6 at 9:00p.m. ET/PT on HBO and will be available to stream on Max.

Season two continues to explore the professional and personal lives of the 1980s Los Angeles Lakers. This season hones in on the period just after the Finals in 1980 through 1984, culminating in the first professional rematch of the era’s greatest stars: Magic Johnson and Larry Bird.

The series stars John C. Director, producer, actress, Salli Richardson-Whitfield recently renewed her relationship with HBO and Max with a new two year overall commitment. Under the deal, Whitfield joins Adam McKay’s drama series’ WINNING TIME: THE RISE OF THE LAKERS DYNASTY as executive producer and directed nearly half of season two (Episodes 1, 6, and 7) and will continue to serve as executive producer on the Julian Fellowes’ drama series THE GILDED AGE. Under Whitfield’s Early May production banner, Whitfield continues to develop original series content with the intent to create stories told from unique, diverse perspectives.
