The Kraken theme alone makes the scene gold.

This is the crew I have the most respect for in the whole series. They didn't have a curse or immortality on their side; they had some fucking sharp sticks, and they fought on to the bitter end and didn't act like idiots. And they also have the honor of having the coolest ship destruction in the series as well.

say what ya want about that crew, they weren't pussies, kraken attacked their ship and a good majority of them went for the spears and axes.

What’s amazing is that they captured the image of the Kraken destroying the ship and it looks like an old painting or book cover of mythical monsters and Pirates of the Caribbean capture it’s essence…many credits to them

This is undoubtedly the best scene in this billion dollar film.

2:18 (and the buildup leading to it) is the best freaking part of the whole movie. That damn organ and the utter devastation send me chills every time ! I wish I could see this scene in a good cinema and feel the organ in my bones.

I love how it got LITERALLY everyone except the one person it was supposed to kill

2:18 is the greatest part of this entire scene, I love it so much because it shows the true power of the Kraken and how it hadn't even begun with it's carnage

I’ve come up with an interesting theory regarding how Davy Jones summons the Kraken. By using the vibrating mechanism, it produces a sound wave that bounces off nearby ships, allowing the Kraken to pinpoint a ship’s location.

In most movies nowadays, this scene would be considered an “action sequence”.

I consider it a complete and utter *slaughter*

0:58 the way he says KRAKEN always got to me, does a good job of showing the fear you would feel

Weird how this movie is over a decade old and still has the best Kraken portrayal till date.

2:12 gives me goosebumps everytime. The change in the music with the shot do the big tentacle hitting the ship is just beautiful.

I'm literally crying over how beautiful the Kraken theme fits in at 2:18. The melancholic tune along with the total destruction of the ship because of this almighty beast is just so well put together. Beautiful. I could watch this anytime and get chills all over my body.

The Kraken's theme is one of the best orchestrated pieces in this entire film. It has this intonation of absolute terror and fear, the swelling of the sound reminiscent of a creature approaching the surface from the depths. And the organ, OH, THE ORGAN. That iconic theme sticks with people well after they see this film. I was so disappointed the Kraken didn't make a return for At World's End. Would've been amazing to see Jack get his revenge.

Gotta hand it to the crew of the Edinburgh Trader; they fought the Kraken 'till the bitter end, and they did it well. If the Kraken never smashed the vessel with it's larger tentacles, they might've actually had a fighting chance.

What a terrifying creature. The Kraken might actually be the most believable of all the monster stories I've heard. The sperm whale is the predator of giant squids and octopi, if one of them happened to mistake a ship for its natural enemy, well...this is probably what could happen. Plus we've only explored like 10% of the oceans, maybe something this big IS lurking out there. Or maybe folks who have encountered it almost never survived...

One of those scenes that had me thrown to my seat when I first saw it in theaters.

What an absolutely terrifying take on an absolutely terrifying concept. Imagine: your ship is miles from any land when suddenly tentacles the size of the mast crash down onto the deck, smashing through crew mates and wooden planks alike. Some are given a quick death, being crushed by the meaty tendrils, but for most one of two slow deaths await them: being melted by the Kraken’s stomach, or drowning in the bottomless abyss of the ocean. Couple that with the fact that deep-sea gigantism practically GUARANTEES the existence of a monster like this, and you have the reason why I fear the ocean above all else.
