Skate 4™ Is Terrible!

Electronic Arts has just officially ruined the upcoming skate 4 by breaking one of their own promises to the community of this open world game. Now datamines reveal that ea will be implementing a paid lootbox system into the skate beta while they've claimed before they would not making fans absolutely furious. We've seen tactics like this before with need for speed payback and star wars battlefront which let to a huge microtransactions controversy. As of now in-game currency called taps can be collected by completing challenges but stars can be earned through tricks, general play, and increasing your reputation level but to everyone's surprise will be purchasable in the near future. However as an upside skate 4 is completely free-to-play with cross progression and releasing on every single platform including on ps5, xbox series x/s, pc and even on mobile later down the road. Can’t call it terrible if its not even out yet. The micro transactions are going to be cosmetic as they said in the board room video. They clearly stated that it will not be pay to win. Also as someone whos been playing skate 3 and update to date with skate 4 stuff I have to say that please take a look at what skate themselves say

Wouldnt say the game is "terrible" when it aint even finished, or even properly textured. The lootboxes aint a surprise, do you think free to play games can just be created with millions of dollars for staff, equipment, dev time, and not get any profit returns? We'll need to see when the game comes out if the progression is fair rather than speculating right now. Even then, why else do you play skate? You dont play it for the "Grind", or even clothing really. You play it for fun, and with mates. The fact this game is F2P makes it even more accessible to new players.

Let’s get this straight, this game was designed to be the most realistic skate simulation on its hardest difficulty and an escape from reality. it’s not a game that’s made to be beat, though it’s technically beatable. You play it because you wanna skate.

Why is skate gaining the worst and toxic reputation for people deciding it's 1. bad without it being out - 2. it being in a pre, pre alpha state - no where close to being finished or completely developed,
3. thinking the graphics, textures and lighting aren't going to change in their current state or in the future, and 4. completely guessing how microtransactions are going to be utilized and implemented.
Ya'll really need to chill and just let them develop the game first before you start dooming and doubting this project. The fact that we are even getting another skate game to begin with, that's FREE, and how they're sharing "pre-pre- alpha" access for FREE with their fanbase is transparency we don't get amongst other games. Can ya'll just see the positives before you start doubting this project? The devs have shared numerous free playtests with everyone at this point, and have updated and collected feedback accordingly. They have even let people record gameplay on top. It's an MMO open world skate game, - it has live object building which means you can build and skate whatever with your friends, parkour exists for the purpose of climbing to new weird spots to skate on, hill bombing with san fran hills is a thing, mini games, custom maps in conjunction with the object builder looks like it's going to be perfect for the longevity of this game, we even get an in game social media platform to post and share all of our clips, along with tons of skater customization. We get another skate game with solid skate mechanics, features, and map for free - all at the expense of not even needing to buy microtransactions or battle pass. And if the game has solid gameplay and mechanics, the battle pass will most likely be worth it in the end. (if it's anything like fortnite).

"100's to 1000's of hours of grinding" for XP is really just pure irresponsible guesstimation which should not be taken seriously in the slightest - content creators should really not be gas lighting this game until they know it for a fact. Keep in mind this dude also picked the worst examples on older titles like payback and BF2. Skate on the other hand is being made for free, so their microtransactions and battlepasses will most likely be properly optimized and suited to the game unlike the bad examples he provided.



Practice your patience before you trash this game and wait for it to come out.
