We have developed a problem with dating that started when the internet showed us bits and pieces of the whole world. All humans have a Venn diagram of People Who Like Us and People We Like. It used to be we'd start with People Who Like Us and look among the People We Like in the overlap to find a partner. Reasonable folks still do. But modern dating looks like starting with People We Like, and trying to find someone in the People Who Like Us, leading to a lot of unmet desires and 'settling' talk. Chasing a woman that is trying to get away is a bad idea. She's either running because she likes the game of the chase, or because she genuinely doesn't like you. If she likes you, she won't make you chase her, because she knows it's not cool to do that.
