The nicest three days of 2024, covering one of the best Croatian tourism stories I have come across. It started several decades ago with a young girl from former Yugoslavia emigrating to Rhodesia and Nyasaland with her parents and siblings, and continues with one of the most successful Croatian tourism entrepreneurs and a quite gorgeous Keight Hotel Opatija, Curio Collection by Hilton.

North adriatic is great for many things, most of the time south coast gets more attention and marketing. But on north coast you are so close to many other places. Staying in Rijeka (tbh its not much for tourists to stay in the city but...) you want mountains and forests on hot summer days:30min drive.
islands :Krk, Cres, Rab, Lošinj and many others are close 30min to 2h drive
Istira peninsula: pass the tunel Učka and you are there.
Slovenia, Italia, Austria 1h drive.
Capital city Zagreb: 1, 30h drive.
Everything is close, every day you can be on different place and come back to Rijeka that serves as base location.

Excellent presentation! I was just thinking that I didn't visit Opatija in a while, we always aim further south. Early september Opatija, sounds very good! Pozdrav sa samog sjevera! ;)
