I've been experimenting with chaos magic for many years now, and I've found, through this metaphysical lens, a way to better organize my world. After a minor near death experience I started to really ask myself what I believed in, and so I began listing and categorizing reality. All I knew was that I felt lost and I needed a proper system of order. What became the easiest for me was leaning on that old original 4 element theory of Fire, Water, Earth, Air... The abstract properties of those elements led me to discover Energy, Time, Matter, Space... The 4 basic elements behind our physical reality. Then I thought about the Spirit, the Mind, the Body, and the fourth here being the Magic that you believe in. Do you believe in science? Religion? Magick?
Fire, Energy, Spirit : Our burning desires, passions, emotions galore
Water, Time, Mind : Our ever flowing ability to see into the past and plan for the future
Earth, Matter, Body : Our tangible stuff that most everyone can agree exists
Air, Space, Magic : Our will to choose where we have the freedom to go

Anyway, I like to use these 8 main facets of reality to help me navigate life. You'll be hard pressed to think of something that doesn't go here, magic is sort of a catchall

Coincidentally it happened to be like the chaos compass of 8 points.
Also I'm using this concept to design a TTRPG that's designed for open concept character development, easy gameplay, smooth flowing story.

I came up with a form of Chaos Magic for a D&D session once, set in a modern-day like setting, a Sorcerer NPC would isolate himself in a hotel room with an Ipod, set up a ritual for Divination magic, and hit shuffle until he was so deep in meditation, the lyrics gave him portents of the future. I came up with the idea after listening to Tool's Lateralus album, as it uses mathematical sequences and patterns in its song, especially the title track. It was designed to be a spiritual experience in musical form.

I have been playing drums since kindergarten and I'm now 70. When I'm playing my drums I lose all conscience thoughts, I'm just playing my drums in rhythm. I do it every evening about 8:00 p.m. I think about playing during the daytime, but I just don't start playing till after 8:00 p.m. it's excellent exercise for the Spirit, the mind and the body
