i'm gonna call this practice 'breaking from the hivemind' because it's all about seeing things from your own eyes, ignoring the opinions of others.

As someone who has studied/practiced Chaos Magick for over 20 years, I highly don't recommend it for most people. From my experience, most people can't handle the breakdown of reality, because they have no idea how to put the whole thing back together cohesively. Most people just want to put their head down, and be told what to do, and what to think. There's nothing wrong with that. This path isn't for everybody. While you may experience a new sense of freedom as a result, it does come with a cost, and one way or another, you have to pay it. Not everyone can gaze into the void, or cross that abyss, and come out on the other side intact. That's what causes the feelings of pointlessness, nihilism, and depression. I've done it, and while I am very much well put together, I can't say that there's not a few pieces of me still missing. If you want to see how far down the rabbit hole goes, by all means, take the leap, but just know, it just keeps going down, down, down. If, however, you want a light, happy, and spiritual experience while you play around with magick, go practice Wicca, or find something else. Keep searching. Also, if you already have trouble dealing with reality as it currently is, proceed with caution. This might not be for you. No matter how much you envision a wall not being there, you still can't walk through it. One last thing, and I'll stop my rant - you may be your own captain, but that doesn't mean you can (or should) try to captain someone else's ship.
