They don’t show it on this serving suggestion, but people that have brick homes have gaps every so many feet called weep holes and they are there to let any water out that gets in behind the brick and also provides a form of ventilation and you do not want to block this up with mortar, but you do want to keep pests out and this works great and it doesn’t stain when it gets wet like steel wool. 😂😮

Really, why not just use a cork.. and even better, just buy yourself some mortar mix or concrete mix and fill the hole with it.
