A great controller, it may be the right time for novation for a desktop hardware synth (something like the ultrasupermini or whatever nova rack) which can be premapped to the launch series controllers.

Impressive… However, I'm currently in the market for an 88-key controller and love my 61-key M-Audio Oxygen so, naturally I would love to see an 88-key Novation Launchkey...

Sounds great, but actually the Launchkey has a pretty lousy velocity response, I'm such a fan of Novation/Focusrite products, and have tones of gear from them, and I was waiting for such a long time for a controller like this, when it came out I managed to get my hands on it right the way, and for my surprise, one of the worst pads and keys I've ever played. Use to have the SLMKII, what a machine, but when I bought the Launchkey I was using the M-Audio Axiom, dying to throw that thing away, it turns out I'm still using because of the bad response on the Launchkey. Controlling Pro Tools with it it's great though.

Must say i'm thoroughly surprised at 2 issues with the Launchkey. 1st how CHEAP the pots feel. They're loose and wobbly like nothing else. And 2nd the velocity curve is quite off - you have to literally SMASH the keys for max velocity. The latter can be remedied somewhat with the MIDI functions present in most DAWs, but still...
Seems strange for Novation to drop the ball like that in the detail. Everything else is well within what can be expected at this price, and some of the solutions are down right excellent. And i love the texture and feel of the keys. But those 2 issues have me considering returning it while i can...

Hey, Great performance, But i did want to get a launchpad, and then i saw this, and this was the first video i watched on this, and you make it look easy so i am wondering, is this hard to do? the bass and the drum loops? Thanks
