Empathy in leadership is a key difference between effective leaders and those who repel employees. But there is a major gap between how leaders see their own empathy and how employees perceive it. One reason for the mismatch is leaders think they're being empathetic through certain actions instead of taking the steps to really understand employees' concerns and see things from their perspective.
