As a French Horn player and a lifelong nerd, this is the video I've been waiting for. My life is complete.

Gimli blowing the Horn of Helm's Deep still gives me chills to this day. That may be my favorite scene in cinema.

Even just talking about the horn call at the arrival of the Rohirim gives me goosebumps.

"With that he seized a great horn from Guthláf his banner-bearer, and he blew such a blast upon it that it burst asunder. And straightway all the horns in the host were lifted up in music, and the blowing of the horns of Rohan in that hour was like a storm upon the plain and a thunder in the mountains."

There's nothing like a majestic horn to prepare you for an upcoming battle.

The horn of the Haradrim at the Battle of Pelenor Fields is my favorite sounding one! Though I liked Bombur's horn at Erebor before the Battle of the Five Armies too!

Excellent video!!
Minor nitpick, I hope I'm not being untoward: When speaning of one of the Valar, the singular form is Vala- the Vala Oromë, the Vala Tulkas, etc.; when it's them as a group, its Valar, and this rule applies to the Maiar and Eldar (Melian the Maia, the Elda Finwë).

In the ride of the Rohirrim chapter when Theoden blows into the horn to charge so hard it bursts I get goosebumps every time.

Just finishing watching lord of the rings and then a video gets posted less than 5 minutes later. Day can't go any better

"And in that very moment, away behind in some courtyard of the city, a cock crowed. Shrill and clear he crowed, recking nothing of war nor of wizardry, welcoming only the morning that in the sky far above the shadows of death was coming with the dawn.
And as if in answer there came from far away another note. Horns, horns, horns, in dark Mindolluin's sides they dimly echoed. Great horns of the north wildly blowing. Rohan had come at last.”

chills. maybe it's so interconnected with the film but hearing a horn give the witch king pause, the light of the dawn, hundreds of riders advancing slowly over that hill, still gives me chills, whether i see it on the screen or read the words.

And Merry changed the note to the great horn-cry of Buckland: " FEAR! FIRE! FOES! AWAKE! FIRE! FOES! AWAKE!"

Am I the only one who actually started sobbing at the end? The Riders arriving to aid Gondor, marching head first into a hopeless battle to aid their ancient bretheren when all seems lost? Damn, truly powerful stuff.

Arise, arise, Riders of Théoden! Fell deeds awake, fire and slaughter! Spear shall be shaken, shield be splintered, a sword-day, a red day, ere the sun rises! Ride now, ride now! Ride to Gondor!

As for a non-canon horn: I really like the Horn of Harad, as heard in The Return of the King film. It's as resonant and grand in its way as any other horn of Men, but it also has a metallic quality that makes it somewhat ominous. It appears to be partially made of gold, and I think there may be some other metal in it as well. It would be cool if a Haradrim chieftain were to use a horn made of mumak ivory. That would make the Horn of Gondor look like a child's toy trumpet.

I’ve got images of Boromir blowing his horn every morning while travelling with the fellowship and everyone getting fed up with it!!! 😂

See, this is just proof of how good the lore is. Even the horns have history.

Maybe you can do speeches next time. Theoden's always sends shivers down the spine.

It is very interesting that in Middle-earth the sounds of these horns can be heard from miles away. I feel that in a universe created with music, there may be a connection between the transmission and range of the sound coming out of the horns and its perception by the target people.
