I’m so glad you mentioned that they can be rinsed off with water. I just purchased my first piece of carbon steel and the directions say to clean by wiping down with a paper towels and then reseasoning. I made cubed steak for an Asian dish last night and was wiping out pieces of dried steak with a paper towel and considered that done 😂 was super confused on all the leftover residue but just shrugged it off since the directions didn’t say I could rinse it. I’m a dunce.

My 10-inch carbon steel pan arrived and I've already removed the beeswax and seasoned it. The big test was seeing how well an omelette turned out. Well, the results are in and I'm very happy to say my omelette did not stick to the pan. It seems to heat evenly and cooked the omelette faster than my older unsafe Teflon coated pan. I'm very happy with my purchase! I was surprised by the weight. I do wish there was a handle on both sides for easy lifting especially, for those of us with arthritis. Great pan for the price and so far I love it!!

People you can clean your cast iron and steel skillets with regular dish soap without damaging your seasoning. The seasoning is polymerized oils, so its like a plastic and soap can only dissolve oil and fats. Unless you use for some reason a industrial soap or a alkaline solution (which you should never) the seasoning won't be damage by by washing it with typical dish soap.

This video is great, I just got my carbon steel pan and I had a lot of questions answered in here. Thanks!

How long has this pan been seasoned for in the video. Mine is kind of blotchy now and I think it’s because I’ve scrubbed it hard with that blue sponge

Should you use chainmal to clean burnt on foods?

I'm fairly new to carbon steel pans, but one thing that this video didn't mention that others have is that if you do end up with carbon deposits or just anything stuck to your pan that doesn't come off with a gentle wiping, adding coarse salt (basically Kosher salt) with a roughly equal amount of water forms a gentle abrasive that should enable you to scrub away whatever is still sticking with a paper towel or linen free cloth without having any significant impact on the seasoning. But do your own research on this one. Again, I am fairly new to this.

You mention not shocking your pan with cold liquid to avoid warping but what should I do when wanting to deglaze a dish? I know acidic liquids are commonly used in deglazing and that that is best avoided for carbon steel pans as it will strip the seasoning but is this ok if it's brief? As a safer option, what about a water or stock deglazing? Is it advisable to warm the liquid up before it hits the pan?

Do you guys have any plans on releasing cast iron skillets in the future as well? I love your carbon steel skillets and would love a cast iron version from you guys.

My pan is a mess. I burned a lot of oil on it, and it won't come off without really hard scrubbing. Other pans have you soaking in vinegar/water mixture, or combining baking soda/vinegar. What else can I do to restore my pan to its original state when I can reseason it.

As many of us do, I've been watching many videos before I purchase my first CS saute pan. I'm drawn to the Misen 10". But one reviewer noted that the gap between the handle and pan may collect food gunk, and be very hard to clean due to it being small but not small enough to prevent buildup. Has anyone experienced problems with this area? Thanks!

hi misen. I recently bought your carbon steel pan, it's great and I already love it! one problem i ran into, however, is that when I shook the pan on my electric stove, some of the seasoning on the bottom started coming off. Is it ok for the seasoning on the bottom to kind of rub off a bit or do I need to re-season it again now?

I do love my pan. However, I just made scallops and all the seasoning came off the pan. I've seasoned 5 times now. One a complete redo. My pan never stays the rich brown seasoned look it is suppose to be. Anyone having these issues?

Overall couldn't get the pan to season with Avocado oil, and had a bad time with the product. It was probably due to my own misunderstanding, but the product was backed with the 100% satisfaction guarantee, so I went ahead with the original purchase with that peace of mind.

Only to find out, they make service VERY complicated. I would not trust their warranty or service.

soap doesn't wash away seasoning! seasoning is carbonized oil that has molecularly bonded to the metal. it's very hard to remove using physical methods.

You missed the salt scrub. You can use kosher salt to scrub the pan without the fear of taking off the seasoning.
