I have been in charge of mowing this property for the owner for many years. It is in wauconda IL. They had to directional bore under a lake over a half mile to connect to water service. This was a huge cost. The house was built in 2004- 2006 they are beyond repair now. The owner did not pay us for last years maintenance. So I don't care to protect them anymore. It was owned by a ford dealer he has a few sites like this. I know this site alone had over 8 million invested in it.

This is so weird, everything looks abandoned except for the houses, they actually look maintained for some reason

Part of the problem is they sell the first few houses and charge a certain amount for Homeowners assn fees..when no other houses are added and no other homes to share the fees, it becomes prohibitive to maintain. Stay away as they are being monitored for trespassers and will get your photo..

I have a friend that lives across the pond in the neighborhood directly behind these. It really is in an area you wouldn’t expect it to be in. No one will guess this town because it’s a town you really wouldn’t think of

Builders would purchase the land on time, so if they only built two houses, likely model homes, and the housing market crashed and they stopped making the payments, so the land itself would belong to the bank. Even if those houses had sold, if the builder stopped making payments to pay for the land, the owners would have been evicted and their houses taken.

You’d love some of the asylums and sanitariums here in New England homie. I did a multi leg CT trip back in September and it didn’t disappoint. Forbidden app gang.

what are the chances people actually check those cameras, I know that electric companies still run power to abandoned houses because its often cheaper (because no one using it) to just leave it then to send out a team to remove it (explaining street lights)

Those houses are probably 400 thousand dollars brand new just an estimate tho. The property taxes are outrageously bad. That is why a lot of homes are like that.

It’s not so abandoned if they have cameras set up and fix broken glass.
