to modify the exhaust, on both sides the trunk recess "bathtub" was changed or was it standard and was somehow bypassed due to lack of space

My dad has 2.0tdi and wants to sell it to me but i want like mercedes exhaust on it the square ones you can find it on google if u search for passat cc tuning but my brother is a mechanic and said to me that we have to cut off the place where the spare wheel is sitting to fit such an exhaust but in Belgium if you do that it will not pass the approval anymore or is there a way around that i can install the dual exhaust without cutting the spare wheel place out?
