Anakin Skywalker was a victim of deception, manipulation, and corruption. But that reality does not excuse Anakin of the endless crimes he committed during and after his commitment to the sith, the dark side, the Empire, and everything that came with that. In this video, we discuss why Anakin's turn to the dark side is not the jedi's fault, but rather, Anakin's, as he makes bad choice after bad choice in his downward spiral into darkness.

I just found this great video. Thank you so much for this well considered response to a POV that has been also bothering me. There is so much wisdom to gain in the Star Wars story but the main wisdom is that we are responsible for our own choices and actions. The warning here is - as an active aspect of your desire to be good, do good, and walk in the light, you must self-manage whatever dark influences come to you, however that occurs. Palpatine is the villain of Star Wars. Be alert to how the Palpatines in your life might be tricking you. Even great Jedi struggled with that - and took responsibility for it. In the end, Luke helped Vader take responsibility and that was the act of self-balancing he finally, though belatedly, needed to do.

The ironic twist is the dark side and the way of the Sith would not allow love because they killed there love ones it all about themselves in the end. Even if Anakin had succeeded he would had killed Padme in some form of way if not him Palpatine would it always the way of the Sith to backstab each other to them love is a weakness. What is Love in Star Wars? It a fascinating topic to me I think love benefits more in the light and the Jedi with compassion to others while the Sith and the dark side would corrupt it see it as weakness George Lucas speech on joy vs pleasure says it all.

At the end of the day Anakin decided to slaughter the younglings… however manipulated he might have been or however much he hated the Jedi that was a decision he made. There is no coming back from that really

A fair and balanced view, as usual. The Jedi just weren't what he needed, especially after Qui-Gon Jin died. If anyone could have reached Anakin it would have been him. Hell, he would probably have been like "I know you're the Chosen One, but if you feel like the Jedi Order is holding you back from what you're meant to do, then you can always leave it. You can still fulfill your destiny with Padme at your side."

I mean. This is mostly in the novelization of RoS. If you have 3 people who are the most important in your life. In Anakin's case. Padme, Obiwan, and Palpatine. If 2 of your three are like. Anakin definitely did it to himself but Jedi were arrogant and fooled by the Palpatine. They just let Palpatine groom him lmao and then sent him to “spy” of him, but Windu later says “I don’t trust him” why would you task someone you don’t trust with a mission to spy on someone he’s close to(who you also don’t trust).😂

Anakin was a self-centered, arrogant, jealous person - who was also a blabbermouth. He never thanked the Jedi for freeing him from slavery. If not for them he wouldn't have met & married Padme, he would either be a slave still or dead. He is such a childish individual with his constant whining & shouts of 'it's not fair' shows that he is still too immature to be a 'master' let alone a jedi knight. He is so naive. I to get annoyed with those in the SW universe that consistently blame Obi-Wan. He didn't want to train Anakin he was guilted into it by his manipulative master Qui-Gon.

I feel like That the Jedis definetly were flawed but the fact That everything was destryoed was definetly Palpatines fault & Anakin being manipulated by him. You could say That the Jedis forbidden rule of attachment was one reason why Anakin Trusted the Emperor so much who took advantage of the fear Loosing Padme. Their System needed changing but they werent to blame for the Rise of Emperor Palpatine.

Anakin was insecure, it was due to his traumatic childhood, that totally led to Vader.

You know I actually created a monologue of Ben Solo responding to the Kenobi series seeing Vader become as brutal as he's ever been. He comes to a realization of how horrific Vader truly was and starts to call him by shouting in the distance more or less talking to himself as if he's there but needed to get it out in the open calling him out about...everything. He's more or less pretty hella pissed at him in the monologue

Great video but I can't agree with everything. The Jedi were not hypocrites, from the very beginning, i.e. from the Old Trilogy, we knew that they carried swords and that they were warriors. Why didn't anyone care then? People cling to the fact that they took part in the war. Question; what were they supposed to do? Move out to the caves and wish the Republic well in its fight against the Separatists and Sith? Who needs such guardians of peace who abandon those they were supposed to protect? They did everything to prevent the escalation of hostilities and suppress the conflict on Geonosis. I also do not agree with the thesis that the Separatists were evil. They were just as much Palpatine's victims as the Republic. Apart from that, a great summary of Anakin's story.

Your right as always but the Republic still was corrupted is filled with self intrest senators and rulers with some of the Jedi Order being in tune with that corruption like Ki-Adi-Mundi for his complete detatchment from everything and everyone and Mace Windu for his own attatchment for the Republic. Mace Windu in particular when he recklessly tried to arrest Palpatine solely on the basis that he is The Dark Lord of The Sith Darth Sidious, ignoring the fact that being a Sith is no longer seen as a crime since after the Ruusan Reformation and not bothering to use actual hold up evidence that Palpatine was playing both sides of the war and being the master of Count Dooku and secret leader of the Separatists while being a public leader of the Republic. Plus the fact that Mace Windu always gave Anakin the cold shoulder. Not trying to lessen any blame from Anakin because I do agree with you. But in the prequel era and Clone Wars of the Skywalker saga, everyone is guilty in some way, shape or form.
