There is this thing most people missed where Ymir is kind of the main character of the story, and she did all of this to show her young self what will happen if she caught that spear for king, effectively using the attack titan ability to change her actions and let Fritz die

It is actually step by step plan. I believe right after eren kissed historia's hand he knew that his actions are ultimately going to lead him to the paths so he could access the founding titan. Now the question how to take and use the founding titan to achieve his goal. He has to now make a deal with ymir to promise her the freedom she desperately craves, he has to make sure whatever he does using the power of the founding titan must lead to ymir's freedom. This is where mikasa comes in her action provides ymir the freedom eren promised and this is why ymir was watching mikasa. She is the inspiration ymir needed to break free of her vow. There were 2 events happening during the rumbling, eren was saving his friends, his home, his love and there was mikasa who had to ultimately kill eren to bring a stop to this. Killing eren also fulfilled his goal of eradicating all titan power from the world and making sure the cycle of passing the founding titan from parents to their children was broken.. imagine how fked up Eren's mind is to get a solution for every single problem. Eren had already said he will make sure no child has to eat their parents for this titan power ever again
