As an engineer, and automotive enthusiast, when I was driving new M4 I was astonished how good it can drive. Also my engineering curiosity led me to look deep inside new M4, and I asked them few questions via social media about new car. Maybe you will find it interesting:

Suspension: I was very curious when i found out that new M4 still uses double lower wishbone and strut, apart from using top arm. That creates camber gain. BMW Says: "Most of all, it is primarily determined by the package situation of a given platform. Multilink strut construction - as used in BMW M3/M4 - provide excellent steering precision and wheel movement within all our functional requirements with a lower weight due to fever parts". So apart from kinematics, base decision for front suspension was to create something which is simple and cost effective. Also they reduced unsprung mass with using aluminium struts and mounts. Rear suspension is very simmilar to E9X and F8X family, A lot of aluminium parts, and lower mount of damper is double shear style - not used in non-M models. What is interesting front rim is 1 inch smaller in diameter than rear (19" / 20").

Aerodynamics: Also like for suspension I asked BMW couple of questions about aerodynamics. They are using aero maps during simulations, but this is not a key like in motorsport, CFD analysis helps them to improve especially cooling system and brake cooling - they found out overall results form CFD to real life very simmilar. Also what is interesting, they are using low front lift design, and downforce at rear axle - no more job in this area is needed for them, and this setup "works perfectly". At the beginning of the project, they were considering moveable aero parts, but due weight concerns it was not continued.

Chassis: As I saw bottom of car, there is a lot of reinforcement plates underneath the car. Basically front and rear axle are connected together via side areas of chassis itself.

Anyway, great car! And as time files I got used to this grill design.

About the stickers, you could make it so that the front is camouflaged so the lower end is blue and the top end is black and redesign the nostrils like a visual illusion… i really hope this one gets the Shirmer treatment with full cage and bucket seats like the f80, tbh i wish i could do a lap in the f80 when i come back so i hope this one will be as good at least.

There is a ton of room in the rear arches, at least in my g82. Also you could easily install forced air brake cooling up front using the stock brake duct blockoffs and some work on the dust shield. Most of the issues with these cars stem from some sort of brake overheat. I personally have not boiled fluid on track but I don't have anything as fast as the ring around me.

Robert really needs to post some more ‘content’. I really, really enjoyed the ones he put out. It’s exactly the kind of thing I want to watch. I felt I could sit back and have a drink, it almost felt as if it was a conversation. I know I haven’t conveyed that particularly well, so I am sorry. He just comes across as someone who I would enjoy an evening out with, not pretentious, not boring, just a guy who loves cars and driving.

@Robert Mitchell Just made a new ig post today about a new size for 2023, especially with G80/G82 fitments. It's 10.5x19 ET7 and ET17 5x112. Doesn't help at the moment, but just to let you/George know. And 10 and 11x19 with lower offsets in 5x112. Regards Christoph

Brilliant vid and epic car can’t wait for this one to get on track!

For better brake cooling you have plastic "things" in the wheel well that you can remove to improve air flow

stock brakes on M2C or M2CS 2NH big brake kit 6piston front and rear 4 piston works well too- endless pads and girodisc disc... but on new M3/M4 rear brakes are just one piston because eletric hand brake.
remus exhaust sounds well on bmw.

I find the stock brakes to be fantastic on the track (intermediate driver), however, it's the rear brakes that have cause some concern for some people as they can wear at an extreme rate, compared to the front. I have not had that issue personally.

Hey Robert, there are actually a tire size calculator that also can compare your wheel offset/width, might be useful to compare ProTrack wheels vs stock wheels.

Maybe fix the front with aftermarket bumper.
