I love these videos. He does do funny things. E.g., who took all the questions that were "sent in", printed them out on small slips of paper, and put them in clean No. 10 white envelopes that are all identical and in a stack? And then he opens them as if opening anew.

can NOT believe the stuff you are sharing with us.

In the distant past the beginning of knowledge/ culture, occured when elders shared their experience around a camp fire.
Maybe it went beyond "experience" & touched apon visions of "what could be"

I data mine the online world....for specialist, real world knowledge about sound. I occupy that gap, between the world of extreem "Audiophillia" & the studio world of "Broadcast + Mastering"., I thought "pauls posts" where pretty dam special. That sometimes maybe, I was sitting at the 21st century equivalent of the camp fire.

I've just found these vids & "copper". You some how not only condense (& de-jargonise) this stuff.... (esp re: subs & imaging) but also inspire

P.s. To those beginning the "audiophille jorney" KEEP WATCHING THIS STUFF. If you think this is some "nice" guy ultimately "Plugging" or subtley "selling" his own wares. This is so far beyond

I should go before I embrass myself

2:48 what is between two things that are exactly the same? Lol my noisy amp is the reason I can see my speakers in my minds eye I feel. Also, it causes intermodulary distortion that blurs the sound in a very subtle way.

With respect given to the advice about imaging it can also happen when least expected. I've heard some pretty good results on some pretty sloppy systems with a good recording. To my ears setup is number one including a proper match of the speakers and the room. Electronics that sound open and free will help that proper match to go a long way. If you listen and imagine you're riding a bicycle does it feel like you're riding a cheap heavy bike pedaling hard to get anywhere or a free wheeling light weight one? All I can say is you'll know it when you hear it even if you've never heard it before.

Hello dear friends. Quick question. Can I treat the entire front wall with diffusion? (I'd rather prefer this since it's more aesthetically pleasing) And then treat the first reflection points with absorbption?

Hello sir, it is a pleasure for me to view your all videos . I have a just a small question . My living room I keep to a minimalism, I had before 7.2 system, but I couldn't stand actually the sound coming from everywhere, plus cluttering my space . I really love the idea 2 channel stereo for the music, watching movies and for the eyes . Simply, so simple and beautiful . Now I am using my 2 y . old KEF Q 500, with the ONKYO a9050 . Is it worth it, to upgrade my speakers to KEF R 500 ?

You missed some detils, just to pullout your speakers from the wall will not make it right! to get an good centerstage the sound from the speakers must reach the ears in the same time and without bouncing around on wall/floor/celling to much(identical sound waves). And when you get a good centerstage you will also get the right soundstage/imaging as long as you have enough distans between the speakers and good listening distans to them. The room acoustics is critical here and the first reflection:s must be eliminated otherwise the hole soundstage will fall.
Most people have not heard a true centerstage sound from a pair of speakers, an mono recorded voice will only sound in the middle and not from the sides of course and the width of it should not be more than 5-10 inch or so, not a voice on each side and 40"/100cm wide centerstage like it´s on most regular setups.
Even if the music is recorded with 2 microphones in a room you don´t need the same space betwen the speakers and front wall to get it right, the speakers will recreate the same signal the microphones was caching up and the same imaging that was recorded and it will apear regardless distance from backwall.
But in an acoustical point it can sometimes be good to get the speakers out from the wall the adjust mid-bas/bas respons.

Hi Paul, You are describing transparency, not imaging.
