The only adjustment this carb needed was 1/8 turn higher on the idle.

These saws have an issue with gas tank venting and are usually tough to start when hot.  take a rag and unscrew the gas cap as pressure will shoot fuel out.  Once pressure is relieved, it will not flood when trying to start.  Some of my customers complained when they left their saws in the back of their pickups on a hot summer day and they would pour fuel out the muffler when trying to start.  Cracking the gas cap to relieve pressure worked for them.  Just my .02, great video, thanks.  Kenny

Daamn men, I had the oem carburetor, then one like the one you discard and nothing works, until I bought the one you said and bang! That thing runs like never before. Great video, very helpful!

Zama carbs are good no doubt. I was able to successfully rebuild the original Walbro for under $8 that includes the carb kit, carb 21 spline adjustment tool, and carb cleaner spray. Anyway the saw idles and runs great. I couldn't justify spending a lot of money on this old saw. Carb rebuilding isn't for everyone so a new carb would be the way to go. Thanks!

I may have to try this with mine. It’s been aggravating. I’ve even had a saw shop go through it. I’ll end up having more money in this little saw than if I’d bought a pro model.

It worked fine for a while to do what I bought it for - pruning crape myrtles.

I’ve actually been able to use it for other limbing work and some jobs it really isn’t big enough for. But now it’s just doing what yours did at the beginning- and really always has. It’s always been hard to keep running. It has decent compression.

Love the little saw. It’s a great size. Just need it to run.

I bought that Chinese carb and changed the linkage from the oem to the Chinese one and works perfectly.

The p3314 saw I have has a Walbro carb and a rebuild kit is only few bucks...going the rebuild route first. Thanks for video!

NOW I find this video. Replaced my 3314 carb with the exact one you tossed off today. It fits but the linkages are different and seem to get in the way. It'll be returned tonight with a zama also ordered tonight.

I needed to replace the fuel line, primer bulb, and air filter for mine and went on Amazon and found a replacement carb w/ all that stuff for $20, so I decided to just replace it all….

Then I couldn’t get the damn thing started no matter what I did. So last ditch effort I just took the original carb apart and cleaned it out and put that back in and voila… just needed some adjustments… he’s right, these Amazon carbs ain’t right 😂

That Zama is like the one that came on mine. The little black plastic piece broke with-in about 3 hours of use. Therefore, I would not recommend this carburetor. I just installed the the chinese carb with the linkage but haven't gotten around to starting and adjusting it yet. After listening to your comments, I'm thinking about abandoning the Poulan altogether and buying a big boy saw. 🤷🏻‍♂️

There's one for sale about 50 miles from here for $15 but a guy in a different video said that they have plastic internals whatever that means.

My opinion isn't really worth anything, but I recarbed my Poulan P3314ws with a chinese carb from amazon, that isn't exactly like the one you had, but similar. It works just like the original. The only thing off with the chinese carb was that I had to stretch the linkage a little because the strato port didn't open all the way out of the box. The low jet needle was set correctly and the high jet only had to be richened about 1/16th of a turn. I'm happy with the chinese carb. Also it was $12 vs $47.

Im new to chainsaws in genrral and just picked up an old p3314. It wasnt starting when I got it. Took it apart and noticed the carburetor is squirting fuel out when pressing the primer bulb in. This means I need a new carb right?
