I'd reccomend lowering your rifle as you switch, it shortens the gun so you have more time before the switch and you can hip fire if necessary.

A little advantage to shooting rifles lefty and pistols righty (cause I’m cross eye dominant sadly lmao): I could still keep my rifle up with my shooting hand so that if I need to engage in the middle of the transition I could just immediately return fire. While my right hand is going for the pistol
