The IS looks good. It would be nice to bring back a new GS!

The rear looks like a homage to the LFA! Love the design, I hope this comes to fruition.

When I first saw the concepts, I was worried that the production version would look drastically different (uglier) than the concepts. But these patents are giving me hope. The taillights look complex to manufacture, but I hope they keep it. This new Lexus generation will be BEAUTIFUL

I have always loved the design but I wouldn't mind if they made a performance hybrid variant.

The patent images are in parallel view. The concept is in perspective view, which is how we perceive it in real life. So don't worry, those overhangs and differences are all illusions. If you do 3D modeling you'll understand. I say they are identical designs. Great looking car for sure, I love it!

I’d prefer the IS Wagon but we can keep dreaming here in the US. Give me an IS 500 Wagon and I would never need another vehicle!

As someone who seriously considered a VW Arteon (overpriced, questionable reliability) and the Kia Stinger (still not 100% sold on Kia quality) if Lexus makes the next IS a liftback..I'm in.😎 Of course if they milk the present platform a few more years and the next IS is EV, I'm out, at least for now. As a condo dweller I have no way to charge at home, the biggest advantage EV's have over comparable ICE. Of course all this is dependent on Lexus giving the the job to the same designer who did the '21 refresh of the IS. Dude did an awesome job.

The patent renderings also look to be done in parallel instead of perspective. As in there's no vanishing point. So it would look odd for sure.

I'm in only if there is an IS-G (gasoline powered) or IS-GH (gas hybrid) If it's EV only, RIP IS😢

RIP IS if they make it only as vacuum cleaner.

The front end of that car tells me it has an engine in it. They need that long overhang to fit a radiator, doesn't make sense if there's no engine in there taking up space. There's no purpose to the hood scoops/vents without an engine as well. And it looks like there's spaces for tailpipes on either side of the diffuser.

I agree with everything you said about this. Especially about the overhang in the patent images. I remember seeing this car on Instagram in Lexus ads all the time and it looked beautiful. The patent lets me down a bit because of the overhang.

Looks pretty good! I love my 21' IS 350... so would love to see the same sporty design, and if electric...hoping for a range of 300-350 miles (may be wishful thinking). A minimum of 275HP would be nice, but if they could offer good range with 300HP, that would be great. I look forward to what they bring forth with the new IS.

The reason these renderings look different is because they are orthographic, and not in perspective. In orthographic view the lines have no vanishing point .

I prefer the longer overhang it makes it look better

EV ignores the ownership life of the IS: all owners 25-35 yo single men looking for a flashy fast car. All typically don't live in SF house where they can charge.
Most owners are men 25-35 yo with later owners just at lower income levels. Each will lease/own it for 3-5yrs. Later owners will modify it to make it flashier/faster.
(similar profiles: 20 years ago BMW 3 series/Acura CL; 30 years ago Supra/NissanZ; 40 years ago TransAm/MustangGT)

Kirk, Thank you for keeping us abreast to the latest in automobile news. I'd put you against all and you'd sit atop! IMO

Imagine if they have an isf hybrid with the twin turbo v8 and a battery? It can be called isf-h. And it'll be the last hoorah for combustion engines and kept a while longer with the electric battery to pass emissions and keep up the performance levels high. They can also make a 2nd version that's all electric like ur theory and call it the isf-e/ev and people can pick their poison from there.

I have a sportcross I kinda figured the next wagon would be electric. I’m here for it. Preferred the wagon over the lift back, like you said.
