Hi Ronald, I just got in from my workshop after looking at some lime based travertino plaster I mixed last night with some of the Mixol Silver pigment. I mixed it last night, put the lid on with the intention of using it this morning, to find a reaction had occurred. One side of the plaster tub lid had lifted and the reacting plaster had 'splurged' down the side of the tub. Luckily I had only made 1kg of this mix, but it is unusable.
I regularly use Mixol pigments for tinting lime plaster with great results, and bought some gold, silver and copper to try them out, only to find them incompatible, so I wanted to let you and your community be aware of this. Maybe you could try some of the Mixol metallic pigments to see if you get similar reactions?
I should mention that my lime based products are genuine slaked lime and from a reputable source.
All the best!

I'm beginning a project of sculpting and casting resin toys. After casting, I plan to airbrush Stynylrez primer on the casts, then airbrush acrylic paint for color base, and then hand paint details of faces and clothing with acrylic paint & brush. Just stumbled on this video and it's got my mind racing... Can I use Mixol pigment in the resin so I can start with a good color base, and also use Mixol in the primer for more color foundation? If so, I may be able to skip the base coat step I had planned and just paint details on the primer coat! Just want a sanity check that my thought process isn't flawed. Thank you for terrific primer on pigments!

Hey Ron, love the content. I may of misunderstood you.... did you say that only the mixol 'oxide' pigments (red cap) are lime stable?
