Cycling Across Europe with a Kid - Amsterdam to Barcelona on EuroVelo 15, 6, & 17

We're back after eight years to do another cycling tour in Europe, this time from Amsterdam to Barcelona and linking together a few EuroVelo routes. We took some detours and shortcuts (and avoided some unfinished gravel sections) but tried to follow the Rhine and Rhone rivers without climbing any major passes as this time I was pulling a 6 year old; He isn't light!
We started on EV15, then switched to EV6 at Mulhouse, then switched south towards EV17 at Dole where we jumped on the ViaRhona for a bit.

My mom joined us for the first 8 days until Strasbourg and we took one day off the bikes in Lyon. We completed 2250km in 21 days of riding and lucked out with hot, sunny weather almost every day. We had one day of dodging rain clouds and taking a couple hours to hide from a downpour after Narbonne and got a little rain after we finished riding in Dole.

You might notice a few interesting glitches in the video as I had HDR on the Insta360 but apparently that can cause light and dark areas to jump around separately. Oops.

The trailer is a Weehoo and it did help to have him pedal on the climbs from time to time.

As for the route, it was mostly excellent. Around Lyon we had to take busy roads as the cycling route disappears into gravel and farmer fields. The south of France is hit-or-miss, too. West of Beziers it's gravel and zigzags too much until past Narbonne. In Spain it appeared to be all gravel so we just bailed on the route and took roads parallel to highways as we were tired and ready to reach Barcelona. Next time I'd work a mountain pass into the route to keep it interesting and doing coastal roads in Spain looks very nice, though busy at times and narrow shoulders.
