Beirut: Aerial footage after the explosion

Aerial views of the Lebanese capital show the devastation caused by a huge explosion.

At least 100 people are dead and more than 4,000 are injured.

Lebanon's Prime Minister said Tuesday's blast was caused by more than 2,700 tonnes of ammonium nitrate left unsecured at a warehouse near the city's port for six years.

Absolutely devastating. Not just the loss of life and injury but the livelihoods lost and the cost of rebuilding their city and infrastructure.

Lebanon’s suffering continues, 300, 000 people are now displaced, there is a shortage of some products, only 2 hours electricity out of 24 hours. On top of this they gave previous issues that they’ve been protesting for YEARS, the economic issues, they’ve been through 2 wars and they’re dealing with coronavirus on top, some people don’t see any hope for the future, many people won’t make it, may Lebanon get through this. I can’t see my country like this.

absolutely heartbreaking. i thought we had it bad when an earthquake hit my city during corona, took 2 lives and destroyed many buildings. now i see how it could always be much worse :(
