Aerial video filmed Wednesday showed the full scale of the destruction caused by a massive explosion in Beirut.

Rescue operations continued as dawn broke in Lebanon's capital on Wednesday morning, hours after the blast which flattened much of the city's port.

More than 70 people were killed and 3,000 injured, with bodies buried in the rubble, officials said.

That water filled crater that used to be a warehouse supposedly stored 2700 tonnes of ammonium nitrate.

2700 tonnes of ammonium nitrate = 1350 tonnes of TNT (factor 0, 5).

1350 t TNT = 1, 35 KT (Kilotonnes)

For comparison the warhead dropped on Hiroshima had a yield of 13 KT.

No wonder the detonation looked like a mini-nuke...
